Years of exploring rivers in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, looking for those tight topo lines that mark a waterfall. Some of these are roadside, easy to access. Most are not: follow a random logging road to a specific junction, push through a grove of alder at the right bearing, and the only reason you would know something is at the other end is that somebody wrote it down.
