A relatively short river, the Big Garlic starts in the highlands above Boise Creek before starting a meandering path east. Along the way it crosses under County Road 510, running along it in a narrow ditch, then picks up a number of tributaries and cuts down the Huron Mountains over three sets of waterfalls before flowing into Saux Head Lake and Lake Superior beyond.
